Upside-Down in Wonderland

When we’re talking about technology, it’s good to note if you find yourself quick to defend all the recent advances or benefits that AI brings. Or if you automatically want to dismiss anything about detaching from technology as irrelevant because it will only continue to accelerate. I understand the pull to do so. At the same time, I’d simply ask you to push through and stay with it. Along the way, remain curious about what your resistance may be rooted in. Don’t worry, the artificial won’t take it personally because, well, it isn’t a person.

We live in an Alice in Wonderland upside-down world when it comes to reality. Words no longer mean what they have for centuries. Good is called evil. Evil is called good. And artificial is called real.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Apostle Paul diagnosed the problem long ago. Let’s revisit his words:

Their thinking became useless. Their foolish minds were filled with darkness. They said they were wise, but they became fools. They traded the glory of God who lives forever for the worship of idols made to look like earthly people, birds, animals, and snakes. Because they did these things, God left them and let them go their sinful way, wanting only to do evil. (Romans 1:21-24 NCV)
