The Most Dangerous Place to Be

From childhood, we’re taught to keep our options open. Don’t put all your apples in one cart. Diversify. Always have a back-up, back-door plan.

But keeping all options open actually exposes us to more danger than being all in, at least when it comes to risking the real with God.

We think a risk-free life will lead to a safe life. Instead it simply leads to a smaller, forgettable life. A significant story requires significant risk. Think of your favorite Bible stories. How many of them were risk-free? Now, how many involved moments where God came through in such amazing ways that we’re in awe each time we read it?

It’s counterintuitive, but the most dangerous place to be is half in or partially committed. In the book of Revelation, Jesus makes this stunning statement about the church in Laodicea:

I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant. You make me want to vomit. (3:15-16 MSG)

This may sound harsh, but it reveals the hard truth that unless we’re all in, we will likely be taken out by someone or something.

In closing, I’d like to take a risk and ask for your help in keeping these readings flowing and free for everyone. Will you consider making a financial donation today for this crowd-funded kingdom initiative HERE. For all who can, I’m grateful. It matters more than you imagine.
