The Hearts of Creatives

My journey of speaking, writing, and teaching on God and creativity began one decade ago in the towering redwoods of California.

It was 2012 and I was speaking at what I thought would be my last writer’s conference. During my final session, the Holy Spirit interrupted my talk to speak these words within my heart:  

“Allen, your new mission is going after the hearts of creatives.”

I tried to continue my presentation like I hadn’t just had an encounter with the living God. That was pretty much impossible. I was in awe of what had just happened…and totally confused. I had no idea what it meant to go after the hearts of creatives. And I’d just resigned my role as a Christian Fiction publisher to join a ministry that had no specific focus on artists.

It was as if the Spirit told me I now had a new favorite food. One that didn’t exist on earth and that I’d never tasted—but one that I immediately craved. God began opening doors for me to speak on the topic he had infused me with. And I grew to know him as Father and Creator—which meant I was his son who could actively and intimately co-create with him.

A decade later, God continues to expand the opportunities to go after the hearts of creatives…including this daily blog.
