Take It Personally
We often view chaos as an impersonal force that plays out with the same generic implications for anyone in its path. Natural disasters, recessions, and viruses impact millions at once. And these things certainly have an impact on you.
But chaos has a personal aspect to it as well. Despite some opinions that chaos is random and couldn’t possibly be designed to push our buttons or sabotage us, I couldn’t disagree more. That just doesn’t line up with real-life experiences.
Chaos comes against us like strategic personal strikes designed to take us out. What—or who—would want to do that?
Scripture tells us that our enemy is Satan, and he is a thief. What is he after?
The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness. (John 10:10 TLB)
The enemy uses chaos as a customized force, or weapon, that is specifically designed to take us out in the places we are most vulnerable. And Jesus counters that, offering to fill us with life instead.
That’s why so much of the chaos in your world seems personal. Because it is.
