Scars of Your Story

We all have scars. Some are visible…but most are unseen. A betrayal from those we trusted. Silence when we needed support. Conditional love based on what we do rather than who we are. Though these wounds are often invisible, they cut deep.

From early on, we’re taught to hide our scars. We learn to see them as a sign of weakness, a source of shame, or a symbol of a past we’d rather forget.

Yet trying to hide or forget the painful parts of our lives takes away an essential aspect of our Story, our identity, and even our creativity. To fully be free, we must go into the scars. Though difficult, this journey—when taken with God—can be a tremendous balm for your soul. Only he can reinterpret our scars in a way that brings healing and redemption to those wounds.

The scars that brought shame or harm weren’t from God nor were they meant for good. The Creator can’t wait to redeem the scars of your story. In fact, Jesus defined his central mission by saying he came to heal our shattered hearts and set us free (Isaiah 61:1).

Once you’ve been made whole in the areas of your deepest wounding, those scars can actually serve as a source of strength. It’s a holy process where God transforms what the enemy meant for evil into a source for good. The result is a powerful river of life that will flow through your heart and your art.
