Stop Waiting
What causes you to hesitate in the pursuit of your dream?
Perhaps you don’t feel there’s enough time. Or money to invest. Those are real struggles we face.
But often there’s something deeper going on within us. We don’t feel qualified. We doubt God could possibly be inviting us to pursue the very thing we love…with him.
So we take small steps and low-level risks to see if the world affirms our gifting. We hesitantly share something we created, hoping for validation. Especially from an expert in the field we’re interested in.
But here’s where things can get complicated. Because every industry has its experts. And that’s good. We need experts who go as deep as possible within a particular area of study. But it also creates blind spots. Because, over time, the gatekeepers can become so familiar with how things have been done, they miss what could be.
When anyone believes they have all the answers, they miss the chance to learn, think new thoughts, or be surprised. When they try to be the smartest person in the room, their creativity shrinks. That’s because we grow by asking good questions, staying curious, and retaining a sense of childlike wonder. This is why industry experts tend to give industry answers. I call this a “rear-view mirror” approach because it focuses on what’s worked in the past to make future decisions.
But you can’t ride to new frontiers looking backward.
Don’t wait for an industry or leader focused on what worked yesterday to validate your dreams for tomorrow. Most won't understand your relentless pursuit of what's never been imagined before. Even so, keep pursuing the new and not yet. Others won't get it until it's real. That's okay. God gets it. He’s the One who gave you those longings and talents—as well as the ability to see the unseen.
You don't need to be the expert on a topic to invite us into your journey of discovery. You just need to step fully into who God made you to be as you pursue your creativity with him.
