Reality Rooted in God

We’re looking at the Five Tenets of the Real. If you missed the first tenet, you can read about it here: The Creator of Reality.

Adam and Eve began their story in Paradise. We don’t know how long they savored God’s presence and spent time enjoying creation. But we do know that time was far shorter than it was meant to be. When the serpent came to sway them away from God, he did so by distorting reality. He offered them a different way to see God and their story.

This isn’t just an insight into what happened in Eden. Adam and Eve’s desire to reshape reality remains our desire today. Yet no matter how hard we try, we can’t change or break or recreate the meaning of what God has set in place. But we keep telling ourselves we can. As if repeating nonsense long enough can make it true. Which is why this next tenet is so important.

Tenet 2: Our Reality Must Be Rooted in Him

Rather than try to reshape reality to our liking, we need to ask God to reshape us into who he had in mind when he first decided to create us. Doing so aligns us with his reality. Doing so requires us to step out in faith. Trusting the most real for our reality...even before we see it.
