Now Is Your Moment

Imagine you’re sitting around a crackling fire with a handful of kindred spirits in the forest. The mountain air is fresh and the sky is ablaze with stars.

Now shift your gaze from the stars to the eyes of those around you. You can see in the faces the cost of the journey that brought them here. There’s a sobriety among everyone, yet also something deeper, an unquenchable joy.

Then the stories begin. Of those rare ones who have walked this path before us. Parents and grandparents. A former coach or teacher. Past writers like C. S. Lewis and Madeleine L’Engle. Heroes of the faith like Elijah, Esther, Mary, and Peter. Remembering their stories, faith, and sacrifices warms everyone more than the firepit ever could. Let it also remind you that this is your time to step fully into the story God created you for.

Now is your moment. The only moment you have. Not to be popular. Or live in comfort. But to love God more than anything. And to love others well. Doing so is the only way to risk well for what matters most.

One last thought. If today’s reading resonated, take a moment now to email or share it with a fellow creative, friend or family member who could use the encouragement.
