Jesus’ Advance Warning

I found myself wondering why God didn’t give us more advance warning about the chaos that was coming at us. I mean, if only he had, things would be so much better.

And then I realized, Jesus did give us a heads-up on this front. A really clear one. He tells us matter-of-factly: In this world, you will have trouble. (John 16:33 NIV)

The word he used for trouble could also mean “affliction,” “pressure,” or “harassment.” And, I would suggest, “chaos.”

We’ll look at ways we can prepare and respond to the coming chaos in future readings this month. Because Jesus doesn’t just want us to be aware. He wants us to be prepared.

If today’s reading resonated, help keep this crowd-funded initiative free with a financial donation here. For all who can, I’m grateful. Your support matters more than you imagine.
