How You See Jesus
When you think of Jesus, what’s the first image that comes to mind? Is he a thirty-year old man in a robe and sandals…or the eternal creator of everything?
Yes, Jesus came to earth in human form, born to a virgin, to heal our broken hearts and set us free (Isaiah 61:1). But that wasn’t the beginning of his story. He actually has no beginning.
This Scripture offers a helpful re-orienting: Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. (Colossians 1:15-17 NLT)
Christ has always existed. All things were created in and through him. He didn’t just tell great parables. He created the cosmos and story and Eden and, well, everything. He wasn’t just a carpenter. He imagined what trees and forests could be—then brought them into existence. He didn’t just walk on water. He made the ocean and every creature within it.
He holds all things together...including you. He sustains all things...including you. And he created all things...including you. Is that how you see him?Order your copy of The Eden Option here.
