Enough Babel Pretense
If you’re not impressed with the ways of this world, you’re in good company. Neither is God.
Thankfully, he isn’t standing by passively. God is actively countering the destructive plans and institutions of this world. “The Lord upsets the plans of nations; he ruins all their plans.” (Psalm 33:10 NCV) The Message translation puts it this way: “God takes the wind out of Babel pretense, he shoots down the world’s power-schemes.”
But God doesn’t just negate the power-schemes of the world. He’s the ultimate Creator. The very next verse (Psalm 33:11) reveals his thoughtful approach to making things right…and making them last.
But the Lord’s plans will stand forever; his ideas will last from now on. (NCV)
