Do This to Grow Your Creativity

One of the best ways to grow your creativity is to stay curious. Because curiosity adds a sense of wonder and awe to how you see yourself and infuses your art with new life. But as you practice curiosity, don’t miss the main thing—being curious about God.

I love how Victor Hugo describes the bishop in his masterpiece Les Misérables: He did not study God; he was dazzled by him.

When was the last time you were dazzled by God? Not because of what he did for you, but because of who he is? How long has it been since you asked him questions...about him? He is the most fascinating being ever, the most talented Creator, the greatest Lover, the bravest Rescuer. A friend of mine refers to God as “The Swift Sure Hand” and “The Goodly Wise” in his novels. He doesn’t just know a lot about God. He knows God intimately.

Get curious about God. The process starts, like any relationship, by spending more time together.

You will search for me. And when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me! (Jeremiah 29:13 NCV)

One last thought. If today’s reading resonated, take a moment now to email or share it with a fellow creative, friend or family member who could use the encouragement.
