Accelerating in the Wrong Direction

It isn’t your imagination. The world is accelerating. More, it’s unraveling because it was never meant to be what it’s become. But it isn’t just the world. The unraveling is also happening inside us.

In spite of technology that connects us all, we’re growing more disconnected. Even in a crowd, we feel alone. Virtual reality takes us farther from what’s real. We’re somehow bored and overwhelmed. Energy drinks can’t quench our exhaustion. Distractions don’t fill our emptiness. We’re losing confidence in this world. And honestly, we never should have placed our confidence there.

God invites us into a better story. A life of active, daily intimacy with the Creator of galaxies, oceans, and wildflowers. That was Eden. A place with God at the epicenter where Adam and Eve were fully seen, known, and loved. I call this way of life Story 1.

Returning to Story 1 is the topic of my new book—The Eden Option: Choosing a Story 1 Life in a Story 2 World. It serves as a beacon that calls us back to God-reality. It reveals his original design for our lives, how we lost it, and why it matters more than we imagine.
