ABC’s of Creativity: Creator

Throughout May, I’ll be sharing three ideas per reading on a specific aspect of our creativity. I call it the ABC’s of Creativity because I focus on topics that begin with an A, B, or C. If this leaves you hungry for more, my book Waves of Creativity provides an “A to Z” gathering of ideas on creating with God.

Three thoughts on God as Creator…

1
True creativity always points back to the Creator.

2
Before creating something, create space for the Creator to be part of the process. Desire to know him. Spend time together on walks and in conversation. Ask him questions. Voice your dreams and disappointments. Read Scripture. The more you seek God, the more you will find him in new and unexpected ways. The process won’t just change your art. It will change you.

3
If you want to know the heart of a creator, look at what he or she creates. This holds true for us…and also for God. In the opening sentences of Genesis, he creates everything from nothing and calls it good. But that wasn’t the end of his creativity. He didn’t retire as Creator. He is the continual Creator. He still creates. And he invites us to join him…if we’re willing to create with him.
