Zorro, Rocky, & You

Your canvas is the place where your presence and gifting play out.

But before your creativity can happen on the canvas, a transformation must happen in you. And that process requires training.

That is how it always is. The young Zorro must face the Master’s Circle. Katniss Everdeen had to survive the ultimate games. Underdog Rocky Balboa had to train endless hours in the boxing ring. In the process, each was becoming something more than they were. Their future victories would first be won in the hidden places.

Through training, we will learn to use our creativity with God to bring light and order and hope into this empty world and to transform whatever chaos we can within our realm of authority.

Through practice, we will discover the power of trying new things, asking big questions, and testing our limits. We will realize what it means to truly pursue our creativity with God in a way that lights the darkness.

And with the help of other sages and fellow travelers, we will see that we are not alone. God will introduce you to kindred spirits in the most unexpected ways. You will sense God’s presence like never before. You will understand your limits, yet see God surpass them through creative fellowship with him and others.

You will see your spark grow into a flame. And you will be in awe to see the unexpected ways it spreads. Not just from what you do, but as that combines with the efforts of countless others discovering how to infuse an eternal spark into their homes, neighborhoods, and communities.

That’s why we must train now. We can only counter the forces of chaos by being firmly rooted in the One who has overcome the world and every form of chaos within it.
