Your Story of With

Your identity is who you are at your core. And how can you be true to God, others, or even yourself before you’ve settled this? That is why Mia’s third vial is labeled Identity. (If you’re not sure who Mia is, start here.)

Identity never hinges in what you do. It is unconditionally based on who you are. If the foundation of your identity isn’t secure as a son or daughter of God, it is likely an identity tied to an addiction or wound.

Whether we realize it or not, our entire life has revolved around our longing for God. It’s not that he’s hiding and we have to find him. He has always been with us. It’s that we continually try to find contentment in other things when he is the only source that will ever satisfy.

With God, the priority is always presence over performance, intimacy over independence.

Moses so desired God’s presence that he refused to lead the Israelites without him. The wise prophet told God he’d rather call the entire trip off than do it alone (Exodus 33). Imagine if we took the same approach, not entering into any project or adventure without him. Not out of obligation or duty, but simply because we crave his presence more than our plans.

This daily message in a bottle is a real-life version of the four vials featured in The Story of With, providing encouragement to pursue our creativity with God. Your financial support makes this crowd-funded initiative possible. Would you consider giving a donation today via PAYPAL (or by check to Allen Arnold at PO Box 62841, Colorado Springs, CO 80962)? Every bit helps!
