Who God Made You To Be

We can limit our creative potential by limiting how we see ourselves.

Your primary identity is a son or daughter of God. The world didn’t give you that identity and it can’t take it from you. But from there, further definitions can become unhelpful. The more descriptors we add, the less we become.

Personality tests measure the status quo but can’t predict the new creation God is inviting you to be. The real test is who you’re becoming, not who you were yesterday. If a test measures your brokenness rather than your true self, the worst thing to do is tattoo those test results on your arm or your heart and believe this is who you are.

Good mechanics don’t define a car by its current state. They test what’s broken to restore it. Likewise, personality tests don’t define us but reveal our current state and how we try to make life work.

Ask God who he made you to be. Your true identity is God-given, not test-driven.  Let God keep shaping you into the you he had in mind from before time began. This is the way to freedom for your art…and your heart.
