What God’s Creating in You
We long for God to create with and through us. That’s a good desire. But in the excitement for that to happen, we can focus on the canvas or screen and miss what God wants to create first. Not something in front of us, but something within us.
Listen to the psalmist’s plea: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10 NIV)
A pure, or clean, heart. Yes, that comes first. At least it does if we want to create with God.
And the psalmist doesn’t stop there. He has one more request. He asks God to renew a steadfast spirit within him.
Invite God to begin the creative process internally for you. Only then are you ready to focus on the external project. After that, remember to ask for his steadfast spirit whenever you’re distracted or disheartened.
