Tell Me a Story

For years, the fastest growing book category has been books on audio. Is that a surprise?

There’s something magical about someone telling us a story. It’s what children ask their parents for every night as they’re tucked in bed: Will you tell me a story? Hearing a well-told story is a desire we never outgrow. My drive to work has become immensely more enjoyable this month as I listen to Madeleine L’Engle read from her bestselling novel, A Wrinkle in Time.

From the beginning of time, stories have been shared audibly. Around a campfire. At bedtime. On a trip. In that spirit, I’m sharing two audio chapters with you from my allegory, The Story of With. After each chapter, there’s a brief interlude called The Shift to With that offers a few thoughts on the story…and your Story.

Even if you’ve read the book, you owe it to yourself to experience this audio edition. It features talented voice actors Catherine Taber and James Arnold Taylor, whom you might recognize from their performances in the animated Star Wars series! If you have an Audible subscription, choose it for a future listen.

I hope this well-told story stirs both your heart and your imagination.
