Pure and Simple

In a world of unlimited options and endless distractions, we tend to make choices that complicate every aspect of our lives—including our relationship with God. Everything can start to feel confusing and complex. So we withdraw and downgrade our expectations. We try to make life work apart from God.

That’s the enemy’s goal. The roots of his trap, according to Paul, stretch all the way back to Eden: But I am frightened, fearing that in some way you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to our Lord, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the Garden of Eden. (2 Corinthians 11:3 TLB)

Don’t let the enemy deceive you by luring you away from your pure and simple devotion to God. Instead, take a deep breath and turn your gaze back to God. In the midst of the chaos, ask for his peace, clarity, and light. The best way to counter deception is through deeper devotion.
