Night Song
Getting through the day is hard enough. But often the biggest doubts, fears, and questions hit us in the middle of the night.
Perhaps that’s why so many need some form of distraction or medication to help their minds stop racing so their bodies can start resting. If you can relate, this Psalm is for you.
By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life. (Psalm 42:8 NIV)
By day, God directs his love at us. And at night, he doesn’t forget us. His song is with us.
What kind of song does God sing over us? The prophet Zephaniah describes it as a happy song.
For the Lord your God has arrived to live among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will give you victory. He will rejoice over you with great gladness; he will love you and not accuse you. Is that a joyous choir I hear? No, it is the Lord himself exulting over you in happy song. (Zephaniah 3:17-18 TLB)
If you have trouble sleeping tonight, rest in that.
