Last Day Artisans

In what Scripture calls “the last days” (which feels a lot like these days), God says: I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. (Acts 2:17 NIV)

That’s incredible. But have you ever wondered what happened next? Did God give these men and women visions, dreams, and prophecies for them to hide under a bushel or to inspire the community around them? My hunch is these wild, beautiful, inspired insights were meant to be shared with others.

And I believe the same is true for us today.

As the craziness rises, I believe the Spirit will communicate to us in ways that will help break through the chaos. These dreams, visions, and prophecies will reveal what is to come and, I believe, draw people back to the Creator.

And…one big way we can share what the Spirit communicates is through our creativity. Imagine the unique clarity and hope we—as “last day artisans”—might be able to offer hurting people in this fallen world.

Ask God to pour his Spirit on you in fresh ways. You’ll be amazed at what happens next. Your life—and your art—will shimmer with a newfound timeliness, power, and freedom.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV)
