First Step to Freedom

Perhaps you’ve heard the parable of the Elephant and the Rope. While the author is unknown, the story’s spread around the world.

It’s the tale of a man who visited an elephant camp and was utterly confused by how these giant creatures were being held in place without cages or chains. The only thing restraining the enormous beasts was a small rope tied around one of their legs. The man asked the trainer why the elephants didn’t just snap the string and escape. The answer stunned him.

The trainer revealed the secret. You must begin when they are young. The thin rope is enough to hold a baby elephant in place. The small animal tries to break free but, for the moment, the rope proves stronger. As the elephant grows, their memory of the power of the rope stays static. A small piece of string is all that stands between them and freedom. What holds them back isn’t the rope; it’s their belief.

What false belief is holding you back now? It may seem unbreakable, but with God, you’re far stronger than you imagine.

All you have to do is take the first step to freedom and watch the rope snap.
