Don’t Lose the Relationship

At its core, life with God is about relationship and love, not rules and fear. God is our Creator and Father…and we’re his sons and daughters.

Jesus affirms this in Matthew 22:37-40: “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.  The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” (NLT)

Above all, we need to protect the relationship—first with God, but also with others. The process of loving others well is never easy—and comes with unique challenges for parents of teenage and young adult children.

In this Wild at Heart podcast conversation, John Eldredge and I discuss how to not lose the relationship with older children—especially during turbulent times and difficult decisions. I hope you’ll listen and share it with other parents in this season of life.
