Christmas Acceleration

Notice how time seems to accelerate the week after Thanksgiving?

It’s the ever-present sense that Christmas is almost here. But rather than stir expectancy, it provokes a feeling of being suddenly and hopelessly behind. On getting the outside lights up, sending out cards, buying gifts, and attending parties. As well as all the normal responsibilities.

Yes, the to-do list is full. But a full season doesn’t have to be a hurried one.

Ask God for his rhythm this Christmas season. For the space and pace to savor the sounds, smells, and sights of this wondrous time of year. The goal is to be fully present to what matters most rather than check more off the to-do list.

Don’t take the bait of Christmas acceleration.
