Burn the Boats

When past explorers discovered new lands, they often arrived by boat. The captain knew when things got hard, the crew would be tempted to sail home.

To prevent that possibility, he would burn the boats. Because once that happened, leaving was no longer an option. Everyone was all in.

We may not own a boat, but we like to keep our options open. Especially with God. We take his input under consideration but have our contingency plan.

Are you dabbling in something God has asked you to fully commit to? If so, it may be time to “burn” the escape boat and give God your unconditional yes. Only then will you discover the fullness of what he’s inviting you into and just how good his plans are for you.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT)
