ABC’s of Creativity: Creation

Throughout May, I’ll be sharing three ideas per reading on a specific aspect of our creativity. I call it the ABC’s of Creativity because I focus on topics that begin with an A, B, or C. If this leaves you hungry for more, my book Waves of Creativity provides an “A to Z” gathering of ideas on creating with God.

Three thoughts on Creation…

1
Genesis reveals that the creation of everything didn’t start by chance…or by our efforts. It began when God decided to create. Any creation we enter into should align with this model. It shouldn’t begin or end with us but should always be dependent on the active, intimate presence of our Creator and Father.

2
How does God create? Extravagantly. Wildly. Generously. Freely. In the Genesis creation account, God didn’t need time to warm up or find his groove. He wasn’t irritable during creation. He wasn’t relying on a formula or hoping nervously that others would approve of his creation. He created joyfully and confidently. Remarkably, he invites us to do the same.

3
Nothing created can ever satisfy your soul. That’s because creation, at its best, is meant to draw you closer to the Creator, not be the source of your worship. It’s essential we remain more in awe of God than anything we or others create.
