ABC’s of Creativity: Control 101

Throughout May, I’ll be sharing three ideas per reading on a specific aspect of our creativity. I call it the ABC’s of Creativity because I focus on topics that begin with an A, B, or C. If this leaves you hungry for more, my book Waves of Creativity provides an “A to Z” gathering of ideas on creating with God.

Three initial thoughts on Control…

1
When we feel the world closing in around us, it’s easy to go into survival mode. We tighten our grip in an effort to not lose more. But what if we allow the unexpected and unwanted interruptions to remind us that we were never in control in the first place?

2
We grow most on journeys where we have the least control.

3
You must release the illusion of control as you step into mystery and strange new lands with God. This guarantees the unexpected. Once you believe anything can happen, you’re open to whatever God invites you into. Often these will be situations you couldn’t have imagined with outcomes only possible through him.
