A Better Way to Create

Ever notice how most new movies, shows, and music lack any true creativity or imagination? It’s like they all come from the same giant factory. And from a spiritual perspective, perhaps they do.

My hope for change isn’t with current entertainment leaders. They’ve proven their willingness to keep regurgitating  more soulless indoctrination that opposes God and glorifies a hedonistic self-life. Nor is it with those in the Christian community making formulaic Christian versions of what’s popular in the world.

My hope is with God and the new generation of artists he is raising up to create from renewed minds, hearts, and imaginations. As a reader of this blog on God and creativity, you can be part of this wave.

There is a better way of creating. It starts here:

  • Intimacy with God always comes before impact for God. It begins with your life…not your art.

  • Create art with God that represents life as God made it to be. A story or song or screenplay that can work without any reference to God or his worldview (the way he created the world to work) is ultimately empty and unneeded.

  • Resist Formulas. You're in the idea business, not the recycling business. There have been more than enough endless recreations of past works. Give us new ideas worth celebrating.

  • Refuse to buy or take in shows, novels, or music that defies God and his ways of life.

Your God-given creativity matters more than you imagine…and it begins with your union with God. Only then can you light the dark—through who you are and what you do.
