User Error

Why is so much art today empty and dark? 

It's a user error on our part.  

Because while our creativity originated with the Creator, it doesn’t always reflect the Creator.  

How we create matters. If we choose to pursue our gifting without God, then it won’t contain an eternal spark. Because that spark comes from God…not our brilliance. Any creation, untethered from the Creator, will always be less than it could have been.  

This may come as a new thought, but there's nothing inherently good or magical about a book, painting, or song. Each is an empty container or canvas waiting to be filled. Their ultimate power (for good or for evil) comes from what we fill them with. And that comes from what we fill ourselves with. 

You’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. (Philippians 4:8, The Message) 

Before we fill the world with more of our art, let’s fill our minds and hearts with the things of God.
