Stop Doing the Overdone

It’s exhausting when you feel pressure to create like someone else. Or have a scarcity mindset when it comes to ideas. As if all the ways to create what you’re passionate about have already been done.

Imagine if a hundred artists gathered on the same beach to paint the ocean. What appears on each canvas would be utterly unique—because each artist has a distinct history and relationship with color, water, brush techniques, memories, and longings. Some would focus solely on the waves. Others would incorporate people or the shore. For some, the sky would fill half their canvas. From abstract to realism, each painting would reflect their unique view of what God meant when he meant oceans.

You might not paint oceans, but you do see the world like no one else.

Your unique gifting isn’t a competition with fellow creatives. It’s an invitation to blaze a new path with God that the two of you walk together. It’s a path of endless possibilities and wonder, not scarcity.

Rather than feel diminished or distracted by what’s been done or overdone, do what’s never been done…as only you can do it!
