Nothing Surprises Me

The world unravels more every day. What didn’t seem imaginable a few months ago now is the new norm. This used to puzzle me. Now I just look at my wife and say, “Nothing surprises me.” 

Because without God, humanity’s trajectory is always downward. A race to the bottom. This isn’t just a symptom of modern times. Since Eden, we’ve regularly traded the wisdom of God for our own desires.  

Yet while nothing in this broken world surprises me, there is One who continually amazes me. I’m in awe of God’s endless creativity in the face of chaos.  

The world may seem hopeless but Jesus has overcome the world. And he does so in beautifully surprising ways. Stay hopeful and expectant for that. 

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NIV)
