Light the Dark

Before we can even consider changing the chaos around us, God must first transform the chaos within us.

Our creativity can’t be transformed until we are.

Who we are comes before what we do. Right being is what determines the right doing. Never the opposite. Which is why our presence is more powerful than our gifting. We can do what we do only because of who we are. This is why chaos tries to make us forget who we are . . . and to become more like it.

With God, you can create in the empty places by reshaping and filling the void with light. But before that can happen, God must reshape and fill the void places within you. This is part of his process of making us a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Pursue this before you focus on what you are creating.

As the old things pass, you will become more like Jesus. And the impact will be stunning.

How might this look? Sometimes our most creative act is simply to walk into a room and change the atmosphere through our presence with a smile. A hug. Eye contact with a person who feels unseen. Listening to another’s story. A shared meal. Often we don’t have to say a word.

There are endless ways to bring light into the darkness.
