Invite C.S. Lewis Over
Imagine having C.S. Lewis as a guest at your home. The fireplace is crackling with logs, there are no distractions, and plenty of time to ponder issues of life, faith, and story.
But why just imagine it when it’s totally possible?
You can have leisurely time with C.S. Lewis at your place whenever you want. He’s game to spend endless hours on the very topics you desire.
All you have to do is open one of his books.
I just completed the Ransom Trilogy. While the Narnia series is more widely known, he refers to this space travel series as an “adult fairy tale.” The first novel is Out of the Silent Planet. Written more than eighty years ago, it is both timeless and timely. I highly recommend it.
But perhaps that’s not your cup of tea. Curious about how science and education can be used to control or indoctrinate? C.S. Lewis has a lot to say on that topic in The Abolition of Man. Dealing with loss? In A Grief Observed, he is too. Struggling with weighty questions about faith? Grab a chair and a copy of Mere Christianity. Or lose yourself in the witty, fantastical stories of The Screwtape Letters or The Great Divorce.
It will be time well spent. But it’s up to you to invite him over.
