Days You’re More Creative

Did you know your creativity can vary by day of the week?

It took an unexpected conversation with an appliance repairman for me to come across this idea. He was fixing my washer and dryer and has seen it all in his forty plus years in the business. So I asked why some appliances seem to last forever while others of the same make and model constantly have issues.  

His quick response stunned me. He smiled and said, “Just hope your appliances were assembled between Tuesday and Thursday.” 

“Why is that?”

“Because more assembly line mistakes happen on Monday and Friday than other days of the week. Which makes sense. On Monday, workers are dragging in from the weekend. And on Friday, they’re ready to wrap up and start the weekend. Since your washer and dryer are more than 15 years old, there’s a good chance they were made in the middle of the week.” 

It’s worth considering how the days and rhythm of a week uniquely impact your focus and creativity.
